On the back of a walkie talkie that my kids play with all the time!
I was asked to do a week’s worth of post about CREATIVITY for a friend’s site and thought I’d share them here on the Smiley Lady Blog. Today is day 2.
It is often said that a creative person sees things that others do not. But everyone is a creative person! Everyone can see more, if they decide to become the person who is observant. Become a noticer.
Today’s practice: Notice your world. Take a walk, not more than 100 yards but make it take not less than 15 minutes, or even half an hour. Look at everything, from every angle! Touch things, feel them with more than just your fingers. Close your eyes and really listen. There will be so much to hear, from so many varied sources. And with your eyes closed, you’ll smell things you previously missed. So go ahead and smell things, really bring them up to your nose and inhale deeply.
Maybe a walk doesn’t feel creative, but everything you experienced, everything you noticed can be the seed for a creative act. The creative act is when you do something with your observations.
Fill your hands or your pockets with the neat stuff you find. It doesn’t matter that you don’t have any specific plan for the things. Just bring them home because looking at them again will bring you pleasure and spark creativity, will prompt you to do something with them!
It’s the doers that get called creative. Tomorrow’s practice become a doer!
Smile. Be happy!

This is a face I noticed in the pattern of the feathers on a ceramic rooster. To me it looks like a happy dog! WOW Smile-a-Thon
