Turtle Day
Try to be like a turtle –
at ease in your own shell.
~ Bill Copeland
It’s Sandwich Day over on a month full of Smiley Silliness. I had a PB&J the other day for the first time in a very long time. So yummy. Truly comfort food.
It is also Quilters’ Day. I love quilts, nice old handmade quilts. I have one hanging on my wall with embroidery proclaiming “Ma Lutz 1907.” So lovely. Too lovely to keep hidden away. Better on the wall fading, than in the linen closet forgotten.
Oh, and here’s a nice little cartoon in honor of Turtle Day. I had to add in the missing possessive apostrophe.
It’s also Fruitcake Day and Visit the Zoo Day. Don’t get any ideas about bring the fruitcake to the zoo to foist off on the animals. They don’t want that fruitcake either.
Birthday peeps include John Amos (1939), Marlene Dietrich (1902), and Gerard Depardieu (1948).
On this day in 1966 the words to the theme song for Star Trek were copyrighted. Who else never knew there were words? The words are just as corny as you would expect and want them to be.
Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand’ring in star-flight
I know
He’ll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
