Take a
Bike Ride Day
Every time I see an adult
on a bicycle,
I no longer despair
for the future
of the human race.
~ H.G. Wells
It’s Walt Disney’s birthday. The creator of all things Disney was born this day in 1901. Maybe it’s not cool to love Disneyland, but I guess then I’m not cool. I have so many happy memories of trips to Disneyland with my kids. Also celebrating today is birthday boy Little Richard (1932).
Here’s a holiday that I hope will motivate you. It’s Volunteer Day. If you’re one of the millions of people who think about volunteering, but haven’t gotten around to it yet, let me assure you that once you do you will be thankful you did. The experience is so gratifying. You feel good. The people you help feel good. The world gets a little kinder because of your efforts. Pretty great outcome for a small effort on your part. My work with Operation Smile means so much to me. In theory, I’m not the one who benefits. But in practice, I am.
Over on a month full of Smiley Silliness it’s Potato Day. That’s making me think about having mashed potatoes for dinner!
It is also Bathtub Party Day. I recently heard Oprah wonder if bathing could be considered a hobby. I think YES! It certainly is one of my hobbies! Here’s a photo of Oprah and I jumping together last year.
BTW, the Smileys on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see in the Daily Smiley.
