Levi Strauss Day
If the composer withholds more than we anticipate, we experience a delicious falling sensation; we feel we have been torn from a stable point on the musical ladder and thrust into the void.
~ Levi Strauss
Who knew he loved the symphony.
It’s also Fry Dipping Day. I was never a fry dipper–ketchup was never my thing. But then along came ranch dressing, and I was a convert! Cold, salty, and greasy, to put on the hot, salty, and greasy fries. Yum! But remember, eat too many fries and those Levi jeans won’t fit! I’ll only eat fries if the arrive at my table so hot they make my spit sizzle. I request that it be so, every time I order fries. It’s just wacky enough that the waiter and the cook remember to not let my fries sit around getting cool.
On the Month of Smiley Silliness. it’s the start of Inconvenience Yourself for Another Week, not another week, another person. Isn’t that just lovely? Let’s all try. From the littlest of things (let someone else have that perfect parking spot right in front) to big (help your good old mom clear out her garage) and all the way to the noble (apologize–take the first steps toward mending a bruised relationship).
It’s Spay and Neuter Day. Make sure to do right by your pets and keep the population down. Too many unloved pets out there in need of homes! Speaking of which, today is also called Adopt Don’t Shop Day. Lots of sweet animals looking for a forever home.
Today, in addition to Levi Strauss (1829), we celebrate the birthdays of Fats Domino (1928), Johnny Cash (1932), Tony Randall (1920), Michael Bolton(1952), Victor Hugo (1802), and Jackie Gleason’s (1916). For Pete’s Sake that’s a lot of talent for one day. By the by, it’s For Pete’s Sake Day.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Jeans Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
