Guard Your
Heart Day
Write it on your heart
that every day
is the best day in the year.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
This Guardrail Smiley was the first Spontaneous Smiley I ever posted on Facebook, and thus began the Spontaneous Smiley Project.
It’s also National Hollering Day. Really? Just National, not International? How do these things get decided? Was the US the only country interested? Were the other countries of the world even asked?
Additionally, it’s a great day to head out on a hike and observe Nature Photography Day. There are Smileys all around you when you walk in nature. Check out trees and rocks.
My personal favorite for today, because it reminds me of an old favorite song, is Fly a Kite Day (Click for video with the words thoughtfully included so you can sing along! Sing every day!! It’ll make you happy!!).
And then best of all, today is my sweet hubby’s birthday. I’m super glad he was born. Happy birthday Dave (1953)! You saved my life! BTW, my hubby wasn’t the only cutey-patooty born on this day. We also say happy birthday today to Neil Patrick Harris (1973).
It’s also Blood Donor Day. I once received IV Wound Smiley, sent to me by the mom of a very brave 3 year old. Mom and son are Smiley fans. When little Gideon began chemo, it was a difficult and sad time. But Gideon was able to remind everyone to smile, by pointing to the wound on his arm as the nurse removed his IV. He stopped the nurse from swabbing away the blood, “Stop, it’s a Smiley. Mom, we have to take a picture for the Smiley Lady.” Fast forward a few years and I am happy to report Gideon had his final chemo session in August 2013! Way to go, Gideon. You can hear about Gideon in my talk about happiness.
Over on a month of Smiley Silliness you can check out Gideon’s IV Smiley. Check out the monthly calendar of Smileys and weird holidays.
