Electric Guitar Day
Lean your body forward slightly
to support the guitar
against your chest,
for the poetry of the music
should resound in your heart.
~ Andres Segovia
The first electric guitar made its debut on this day in 1937.
Happy birthday Candid Camera (1948)-you made me smile, and to the Smithsonian (1846)-you made me think.
On the human side of things, today we say happy birthday to Antonio Banderas (1960) and Ronnie Spector (1943). I’ve never met Antonio, I’d probably stutter and make a fool of myself! Ooo, such a cutie! I did have the good fortune of seeing the latter perform last year. What a dynamo!
So, it’s also S’mores Day. Does anybody actually like eating them. Or is all about the process and not the product. I guess that makes s’mores seem like art. ..Eh, I think not. I think the reason they are only eaten at campfires, is so you can surreptitiously, under the cover of darkness, toss yours into a bush. All done with your s’more? Do you want s’more? I think not.
It’s also the start of Apple Week and Be OK with Being Lazy Day over on our AUGUST calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness. I say let’s just be lazy all month, all year. Lazy has gotten such a bad rap. It really is ok, out and out good for you, to let yourself be lazy now and then. Heck, a bit of each day should be dedicated to laziness!
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus as is often the case, just for grins, you get a different Guitar Smiley in the Smiley-a-Day emailer.
