Take Your Baby
for a Stroll Day
If you walk down the street
and smile at someone,
that person will smile
at the next person.
You have the power
to change someone’s day.
~ Julianna Margulies
Today is also Backyard Day over on a Month of Smiley Silliness. A perfect day for The How Much Mud Can You Carry in Your Underwear Challenge.
It’s Stevie Wonder’s Birthday, born this day in 1950. And if you love Stevie Wonder, have I got a riddle for you! It’s about as dumb as they get, but when I was a kid I thought I was pretty cool telling this joke. Additionally we celebrate Stephen Colbert (1964), Bea Arthur (1922), and Mary Wells (1943). Talk about a fun imaginary dinner party! I’d love to spend an evening with them all together (Psst-I know they’re not all still walking the Earth–it’s a fantasy dinner party).
Every time I type someone’s birthday here on a Smiley-a-Day, I get a little happy thrill if they are older than I. I know it’s silly, but as I get older I experience a little schadenfreude that I’m actually younger than someone! Don’t know what schadenfreude is? Ask a musical theatre geek, or if you don’t have a theatre geek handy, watch this from the original cast of Avenue Q. Warning: Lots of swearing!!! Want to get the definition without the song and the swear words, here you go!
It’s also the birthday of velcro, patented this day in 1958 (haha, velcro is older than I am, too!).
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Stroller Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
