The Birthday
of the Bike
patented this day in 1819
Q: What do you get if you cross
a bike and a flower?
A: Bicycle petals!
Love a dumb riddle? Me, too! Here’s bunch more dopey bike riddles. Hate a dumb riddle? Forgive me. It’s also Forgiveness Day. Forgiving is a pretty darned good way to go, even though it can be really hard to do. It gets easier when you realize the blame game only causes more hurt and stands in the way of healing. Your healing!
Over on a calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness it’s Chocolate Pudding Day. Yum!
We celebrate Beauticians today. I suppose the newer term is Stylists, but I kind of like Beautician better. When I was a kid my Grandma Ruth used to go to the Beauty College where she could get her hair permed for half price. It was on one such trip when I went with her that she told us all about a co-worker (a fellow teacher) who had come to work with her hair permed and been fired on the spot! This was in about 1918 when perms and lipstick were seen as the tools of hussies.
Today we say happy birthday to Aruna Roy (1946) a successful civil rights activist in India. Birthday wishes also to the always funny Sean Hayes (1970) and musician Chris Isaac (1956). The latter two I’ve met and been pleasantly surprised by their openness with fans.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Bike Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
