I found this smiley at my grandma’s house on Christmas. A major snow storm created this smiley face on the cover of our patio furniture. I was on vacation at a friend’s place, and ended up cooking dinner… I guess his frying pan’s not flat! The 2010 Smart Car smiles for the camera at the recent San Francisco International Auto Show at Moscone Center. A multi-window display of a snowman scarf taken at Knit/Purl yarn store in Portland the first weekend in December. Found at the tamale booth at the Moraga farmers’ market. This was left as a watermark on the kitchen sink ledge, by one of my dog’s textured plastic/foam balls after it was rinsed and left to dry for the night. A teacher at Rheem Elementary School While preparing dinner on Sunday, I cut into an onion and found it smiling at me. I continued to cut slices and wound up with a whole family of smiling onions. This is one onion that didn’t make me cry!! The next morning I read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about the “hunt for smileys” – how timely. I thought I’d share these photos with a group who I know will appreciate them. Ruth: I once had the same experience with an onion. I photographed each slice separately and then when I looked thru them quickly (click, click, click scrolling thru the pics) it was like a flip movie with the expression on the Onion Smiley changing subtly from pic to pic. I cut my apple in half and saw the smile. Well, more like a face, but I smiled anyway. Out for a walk and came across this by the side of the road. Sarah’s speakers and the corner of the kitchen counter! I was sitting on my couch watching television when I just happened to notice the candle piece on the table looked like a face with eyes, nose and a big smile. After seeing this article on the news, I thought it might fit in that category also. I found this smiley in one of our bathrooms. I have a shelf where I display some of my grandmothers jewelry. You know, the screw-back rhinestone kind. This has been sitting here a for a year smiling at everyone who comes through the door, not being noticed until today. My Grandmother has been gone many years and seeing this smile today brought back wonderful memories. I work at a cell phone store hustling mobile phones all day every day. I caught this smiley in the piece of cardboard that the phone rests on in the box. Serena’s old Toyota was frosted over one morning recently. The base of the radio antenna sported a broad grin.
Ruth: But clearly happy.
