People are like
stained glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within.
~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
BTW, today’s Smiley came from the Operating Room in Paraguay. I snap the shot when I was on a medical mission with Operation Smile.
Gene Kelly was born this day in 1912 and starred in my all time favorite movie, Singing in the Rain, and so it is Singing in the Rain Day. Other birthday peeps include Rick Springfeild (1940), Barbara Eden (1931), and Keith Moon (1946).
It’s also It’s also Punctuation Appreciation Day. I’m one of the grammar geeks who will be celebrating this one with gusto!
Over on our calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness we begin Be Kind to Humankind Week. Kindness is always the order of the day. Always and with all people!
Today you can also celebrate Buttered Corn and Gymnastics Days. Probably not a good idea to eat buttered corn and then climb on the uneven parallel bars–too slippery. You could eat a peach for Eat a Peach Day–they’re sticky. Wait, wasn’t it Peach Day yesterday? Well, yes. Who knows why, but I just have to figure peaches are just that good.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
DID I MISS ANY GOOFY, SILLY, UPBEAT HOLIDAYS??
