Sir, more than kisses,
letters mingle souls;
for, thus friends absent, speak.

It’s also Jalapeño Day over on our September calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness. Has anyone else noticed that they just aren’t as hot as they used to be? I wonder if they’re intentionally being genetically toned down.
Nintendo files its first patent on this day in 1889. You read that right, 1889. Back then they made playing cards.
A few of music greats celebrate their birthdays today. Hats off to Ray Charles (1930), John Coltrane (1926) and Bruce Springsteen (1949). TV goofball Jason Alexander (1959) and movie star Mickey Rooney (1920) were also born this day.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus as is often the case, just for grins, you get a different Airplane Smiley in the Smiley-a-Day emailer.
