November 9
Go to a
Museum Day
Living is like
tearing through a museum.
Not until later
do you really start absorbing
what you saw,
thinking about it,
looking it up in a book,
and remembering –
because you can’t take it in
all at once.
~ Audrey Hepburn
Audrey’s quote above, is perhaps the best stated explanation, ever, of why quiet time alone with yourself is so important. If you are not a meditator, I highly recommend you give it a try. It is life changing! Oprah and Deepak Chopra have made several series of meditation guides that are quite lovely. Here you go. Here’s the link. Come on. Click. You know you want to. You’ll be glad you did.
Today is also the anniversary of the patent of the Neon Light, back in 1911. This upside down neon sign reminds me of Santa. If I’ve been good maybe he’ll bring beer.
It is also Chaos Day. Those always come along. You can’t control what the world throws at you, but you sure can control how you respond! Birthday celebrant Puff Daddy, born this day, 1969, had something to say on this subject: “You have an opportunity to be in control of your life, for yourself, by the decisions that you make.”
Eric Dane (1972, a.k.a. McSteamy) and Carl Sagan (1934) were also both born on this day. Two starry eyed dreamboats.
Over on a month full of Smiley Silliness it’s Bold and Pungent Day…what?
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Museum Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
DID I MISS ANY GOOFY, SILLY, UPBEAT HOLIDAYS??
SHOOT ME AN EMAIL. I WANT TO KNOW!
