Take a Hike Day
Climb the mountains
Get their glad tidings
Leave the dark
of the cold city streets
Find a meadow to play in
A forest to pray in
Leave your civilized strife
For a fountain of life!
“Climb the Mountains”
From Mountain Days, the musical story of John Muir‘s life.*
A Rock Smiley seemed appropriate for a day set aside for hiking. Plus there couldn’t be an easier place to find a Smiley Face than on a rock. You’ll get a different Rock Smiley in today’s Smiley-a-Day emailer.
Over on a month full of Smiley Silliness it’s Tell A Farm Animal Joke Day. Farm animals are so cute and smart and lovable. Adorable, smart, little pigs. Friendly, gentle cows. Sociable, curious chickens. I know, you know where this is leading . . . how about going meat free for today or even just a day or two each week. It’d be a fitting way to honor World Peace Day . . . peace for all animals.
For all the birthday people today, Danny DeVito (1944), RuPaul (1960), and Lauren Hutton (1943), enjoy a piece of baklava for Baklava Day.
I’d be one to pass on baklava if a piece of homemade bread was available. Homemade Bread Day makes me remember making bread with my kids. I sure do miss my those guys living at home.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Rock Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
DID I MISS ANY GOOFY, SILLY, UPBEAT HOLIDAYS??
SHOOT ME AN EMAIL. I WANT TO KNOW!
