Box of
Chocolates Day
“There’s nothing better
than a good friend,
except a good friend
with chocolate.”
~ Linda Grayson
A couple of theatre guys celebrate birthdays today. Howie Mandel was born this day in 1955. I once saw him do standup and laughed so hard. Thank you, Howie. You MMS (Made Me Smile, the new LOL). Then there’s actor Don Cheadle (1964) also celebrating today. Isn’t he great? I’ve never seen him live, but if I ever hear he’s in a play in the Bay Area, I’ll definitely go. Gotta support live theatre–or it will disappear. We also say happy birthday to Louise May Alcott (1832).
If any of the birthday peeps drop in, I’ll have a pie ready for them since it’s Lemon Cream Pie Day.
Back in 1922 King Tut‘s tomb was opened for the first (as far as they know) time. I’ll never forget the time I got to see many incredible pieces from the tomb, at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, back in 1979 when I was a college student across the bay at UC Berkeley. It was a long wait in a long line, and worth every minute!
Additionally, it’s Square Dance Day. I love square dancing. So much fun. I think I’m going to look up where I could do that again. When I was in college I used to go to the International House on the UC Berkeley campus for folk dancing events. So fun. I’m happy that today’s Smiley post reminded me of a happy time in my life.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Chocolate Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
