You must not lose faith
in humanity.
Humanity is an ocean;
if a few drops
of the ocean are dirty,
the ocean does not become dirty.
~ Mahatma Gandhi
It is also World Peace Day again today. Wouldn’t that be nice! Certainly something Mahatma Gandhi (the source today’s quote)would endorse. That one is certainly for both the northern and the southern hemisphere.
In the food department, it’s both Date Nut Bread Day and Kiwi Day. The former is probably for the Northern Hemisphere and the latter for the Southern. That’s just my guess considering here in the north, kiwis ripen mid summer, not mid winter.
What has 3 lines, 17 words, and doesn’t rhyme? The answer is found in today’s Haiku Poetry Day.
Happy Birthday to Barbara Billingsly (1922). If you don’t know who that is, ask an old person. Old people are so very handy to have around, what with knowing so much cool stuff. Hint: She was the mom in this show. Barbara shares this day with Ralph Phinnes (1962), Diane Sawyer (1945), Robin and Maurice Gibb (1949), and Hector Elizondo (1936).
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Coast Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer and the other one you get on the Monthly Smiley Calendar are both different from what you see here.
