Tick Tock
Day
With the past,
I have nothing to do;
nor with the future.
I live now.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today you’ll see Upholstery Smiley on the monthly calendar for Upholstery Day. I found this really great one in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in during the medical mission to the Philippines with Operation Smile in June of 2014. I hope to go on a mission every year! There truly is nothing I’ve done that has given me so much joy. So far I’ve been to Paraguay and the Philippines. I can’t wait to get my next assignment.
The Bowling Ball with holes for your fingers and thumb made its debut on this day in 1862. The bowling shirt, quite a few decades later.
It is Pepper Pot Day. Not quite sure what is meant by that. But as a gal who loves peppers, I’m in for eating a whole pot of roasted peppers today.
Here are all the folks we can imagine celebrating their birthdays with peppers instead of cake as they party at the bowling alley: Jon Voight (1938), Mary Tyler Moore (1936), Mekhi Phifer (1974), and Ted Danson (1947).
And don’t forget it’s Make Resolutions That Start With the Words I WILL Week over on a month full of Smiley Silliness. “One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.”~ John Burroughs
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
