Blossom Petals
Day
A flower cannot blossom
without sunshine,
and man cannot live
without love.
~ Max Muller
It’s also Be Proud of Your Incredible Kid Day! Please be proud of them just the way they are. It means the world to a child to have their parent’s approval. Never withhold love and kindness, when helping them grow and learn. Don’t think punishment, think solution. Let them be a part of the process to correct an error on their part. This line from my children’s book, To Be A Friend, applies to parents too!:
When a friend is unkind
Think, “Why’d they do that?”
A solution, not anger,
gets fun back on track.
Today is Buzzards Day. You’ll be grateful to see I have no Buzzard Smileys–that could be kind of gory. Speaking of gory, years ago when my kids were little, we saw a bunch of buzzards circling overhead. Amateur Scientists all, we set out hiking to see what was creating the scent that drew them near. I’ll never forget this epic fail–the scent was coming from our cat Cleopatra, evidently killed sometime earlier that day. From science talk we moved onto talking about grief and life cycles and animals’ survival and predator & prey and returning to the food chain.
On a happier note, happy birthday, Fabio (1959), Sly Stone (1943), Mike Love (1941), and Ruth Bader Ginsberg (1933). In picking today’s imaginary dinner companion, I’ll need a table for 2, make that 2 Ruths.
One last holiday is Everything You Think is Wrong…that can’t be right. Whomever thought that up, well they were just wrong! Just wait ’til tomorrow. We’ll set things right.
