Kids Leave Their
Handprints on
Your Heart Day
Little hands,
like a special smile,
stay in our hearts
a long, long while.

All the spinach eating Popeye-loving peeps out there, it’s Spinach Day. As far as I’m concerned spinach is just about as good as green gets! I am deeply thankful for prewashed spinach. It’s worth the extra cost not to have to use 20 gallons of water and 20 minutes of your life trying to get a bunch completely clean (or rather mostly clean)!
If you are a movie lover (who isn’t?), give a cheer for Louis Lumiere who on this day in 1895 patented the first movie picture machine.
On the Bridge of the USS Enterprise we salute Leonard Nimoy on what would have been his 86th birthday (1931). Leonard, you did in fact live long and prosper.
Other peeps celebrating their birth today include Martin Short (1950), Kiera Knightley (1985), and Alan Arkin (1934). Additionally we have a couple of political dynamos. Happiest of birthdays to Nancy Pelosi (1940) and Sandra Day O’Connor (1930). Perfect day for a smiling birthday cake. From this list I think I’d pick Alan for a dinner meet up. I could use a good laugh and I’m pretty sure he could make it so.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley. There it’s Viagra day–sorry no picture.
Plus, as is often the case, the Hand Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
