Whole Grain Day
The hunger for love
is much more difficult to remove
than the hunger for bread.
~ Mother Teresa
Today we say happy birthday to the Ice Cream Sundae. Supposedly the first one ever thrown together, was done so on this day in 1893. The sundae up against a piece of whole grain bread . . . but it doesn’t have to be competition–enjoy them both.
We also have a trio of goofball birthday boys, Alec Baldwin (1958), Eddie Murphy (1961), and David Hyde Pierce (1959), plus a great scientist, Jane Goodall (1934) and a heartthrob Marlon Brando (1924).
Bread lovers, it’s not only Whole Grain Day, but also Sourdough Day. I just gotta say, if you can’t find a Smiley in Sourdough, you’re not looking hard enough!
It’s also Day of Hope and Find a Rainbow Day. I hope you find a rainbow! The weather is perfect for it! The Day of Hope is celebrated again on the 7th.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Bread Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
