April 1
Dishwasher Day
Normal is
nothing more
than a cycle
on a dishwasher.

The Dishwasher, patented this day in 1889.
Today’s Smiley photo makes an appearance in my talk about happiness for Sunday Assembly of Silicon Valley.
It’s also National Day of Fun (aka April Fools’ Day) over on a Month of Smiley Silliness. There you can check out all different Smileys, holidays and quotes.
It’s also Tattoo Day. I got mine a few years ago. I celebrate the one year anniversary on April 19. Can you guess what I got? It was a family affair, but dang they didn’t have a any kind of family discount–never having had an entire family come in for tattooing. Just to be clear all my “kids” were in their 20’s and it was their corrupting me, not the other way around. I’m sure there’s a joke or two about what kind of fool gets a tattoo or if that tattoo is real or just an April Fools joke.
Today we say happy birthday to Susan Boyle (1961). Have you ever seen the clip of her audition for Britains Got Talent? They were so rude and quick to judge her, before hearing her, just because she didn’t look or act like a self absorbed diva. I’m a fan Susan but not of that awful show. I hope you are, too.
It is also One Cent Day. I’m a big lover of the penny, so I’ll be celebrating this day all day! Pennies have helped me celebrate the big days of my life and the lives of my friends. I’ve had a lucky penny cut into a Smiley Face on my keychain for a bunch of decades, the penny worn almost to unrecognizable. I thought I’d never find another one. Then along came Etsy.com and by golly I typed in smiley face penny and discovered Ward’s Corner! I got 20 and am making sure all the nieces and nephews, friends and family have one for their keychain.
