Live Music Night
Music bypasses the brain
and goes straight
to the heart.
~ Dick Cavett
Just for grins, you get a different Music Smiley in the daily Smiley-a-Day emailer.
It’s also Remember Record Stores Day. Not many of those around anymore. Guess you’ll just have to go out for some live music.
Ahh, if only birthday boy Nat King Cole (1919) was still around! I’d go to see him in a New Your minute! The other 2 birthday boys are a couple of hunky TV stars, Patrick Duffy (1949) and Rob Lowe (1964).
Take a peak at our Month of Smiley Silliness where we celebrate Blah, Blah, Blah Day.
And don’t forget, it’s Wag Your Tail Day. “In times of joy, all of us wished we possessed a tail we could wag.” ~ W.H. Auden
Back on this day in 1912 the Campfire Girls got their start. Just 5 days earlier the Girl Scouts also made their appearance. I had no idea they had started at almost the exact same time. Were they rivals?
For no reason in particular, I thought I’d pitch Operation Smile to you all! Have you ever wondered what it cost to give a child a new smile (and a new life!)? It’s only $240. Every donation, whether it be $5 or $240, helps make this unimaginably wonderful thing happen. Might you have a few dollars you could spare? Donate 10 bucks and you’ll never miss it, but at the same time you will know you helped a kid like these kids!
Lena now has a beautiful smile. Made possible by generous people choosing to skip a few personal luxuries so as to be able to donate. Might your group, church, school, club, office, class, neighborhood, etc like to sponsor a surgery for a child.
Maybe instead of going to Starbuck’s, you could go to the donation page!
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here.
