Arbor Day
A tree is known by its fruit;
a person by their deeds.
A good deed is never lost;
he who sows courtesy
reaps friendship,
and he who plants kindness
gathers love.
~ Saint Basil
The tree in the Smiley photo, used to stand beside my driveway, right where I parked my car. We’d lived here a year before I noticed the Smiley Face. I just love that he was just patiently waiting in plain sight, waiting to make me smile. Last week P.G. & E. took the tree down because it was leaning terribly. I will miss seeing this little guy smiling at me. But I am thankful for the gift of the memory. BTW, you get a different Tree Smiley in the daily emailer.
It’s also Pierced Ears Day. I got my ears pierced along with my then bestie, Felicity.
And I swear I’m not making this up, but it’s National Hairball Awareness Day. Not just Hairball Awareness Day, but National Hairball Awareness Day. I guess this means Cats and Cat Lovers all over America will be partying (and barfing) into the wee hours.
Still don’t don’t believe me? I wouldn’t lie to you, after all it’s also Honesty Day over at a Month of Smiley Silliness. Honesty Day at the end of this month must have been set, so as to balance out all the foolishness from the first of the month.
Today we say happy birthday to Willie Nelson.(1933) I had the good fortune to see him in concert in 2013. He’s one I’ve put on my list of performers I want to be sure to see before they are gone! Perhaps this bucket list could be called my Kick the Bucket List. Sorry. Crass I know. But it was so easy, I couldn’t resist.
