Welcome Day
The soul should always
stand ajar,
ready to welcome
the ecstatic experience.
~ Emily Dickinson
I risked getting to work late when I had to pull over to photograph this Bush Smiley that was clearly saying, “Welcome!”
It’s Plan Your Vacation Day. Consider going to beautiful Yosemite in honor of John Muir starting the Sierra Club on this day in 1892. However, over on a Month of Smiley Silliness it’s the start of There’s No Place Like Home Week. I think that’s the universal reaction when you return from vacation–no matter how great the vacation.
It is also Health and Fitness Day. I love exercise exactly as much as I hate it. I often think of it like being in labor. You just have to get through it and then the reward is great!
Today we say happy birthday to Gladys Knight (1944). Man, oh man, do I love Gladys and her Pips!! Midnight Train to Georgia grabs me every time. Another biggie celebrating today is T-Bone Walker (1910). Who knew May 28 was such a great day for Soul and the Blues!
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Welcome Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
