Sauté Day
This country isn’t a melting pot.
Think of this country as a stir fry.
That’s what this country should be.
A place where people are
appreciated for who they are.
~ Jane Elliott
Good old fried food. We do love it. Julia Child’s observation on this subject cracked me up, “America’s favorite flavor is crispy.”
Today is Jerry Mathers‘ birthday. If you are of my generation you probably watched Leave it to Beaver, born this day in 1948. It was one of my favorite shows. It still holds up all these years later! I met Jerry Mathers recently. I asked him to jump with me but he said NO. Funny man Wayne Brady (1972) also celebrates his birthday today. I bet he’d jump with me!
It is Recycling Day. If you’re not recycling yet, it’s time to get on board. Easy, shmeazy, and the responsible thing to do! There’s a different Recycling Smiley over on our July Month of Smiley Silliness.
Sweet tooths, take note. It’s Rocky Road Day. I’ll pass, but you go ahead. I’m a purist. Give me plain chocolate and I’m a happy camper.
It is also You’re a Grand Old Flag Day. When I was a kid I thought it was You’re a Grand Old Dad. Seems perfect for the month in which we celebrate Fathers’ Day. BTW, My grand old dad never felt the need to correct me as I sang this song to him.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Pan Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
