Ride Your Motorcycle
to Work Day
The Open Road
The sun is harsh, the pavement hot,
You might think us insane!
But unless you’ve known it for yourself
There’s no way to explain.
You’ll simply have to join us,
And then it will seem plain,
One ride upon the open road,
You’ll never be the same!
~ Nicki
Don’t forget it’s Play in the Mud Day. Motorcycles and mud often go together. I have a very fond memory of my kids playing in the mud and of my parenting philosophy of, “just say yes.”
Additionally, on this day in 1885, The Statue of Liberty arrived in New Your city. The Smiley Lady has always been a big fan of Lady Liberty. Long ago, I learned by heart, the final stanza of the poem written by Emma Lazurus that adorns the base.
It’s also Don’t Wear Orange Day over on a month of Smiley Silliness where you’ll find a whole month of Smileys and weird holidays. I hope the SF Giants don’t have a game today! They’re always in orange.
Which of these birthday peeps would you like to hang out with, maybe be share some Apple Streudel and Root Beer (today’s food holidays): Venus Williams (1980) or Barry Manilow (1943)?
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Motorcycle Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
