Over on a month full of Smiley Silliness it’s Bowling Day. I found the great Smiley you’ll see there, on my trip to New Orleans in 2013.
It’s also Blasé Day. Don’t be blasé. Blasé and jaded, too cool for school, the whole false bravado act, are just walls put up to keep our true self hidden from others. They are also designed to allow us to hide not only from others but also from ourselves. So don’t be blasé. Being vulnerable, open, and living every day in awe, are so much more authentic ways to face the world.
Now listen to this. It’s Listening Day. Also known as Don’t Utter a Word Day. Have you ever spent a whole day without speaking? Do you think you could? I’ve been on silent meditation retreats. It’s much easier than you might think. But if you blow it, just try again on the 27th. That’s be a much better way to spend the day after Thanksgiving than going out shopping!
Happy CAT Scan Day. Hope you never need one. But since 1975 they’ve been available, if you were ever to need one.
I bet Jamie Grace (1991), celebrating her birthday, isn’t feeling blasé or jaded about her sizzling career. Let’s hope she never does. Jamie joins Christina Applegate (1971) and John Kennedy Jr (1960), also birthday celebrants.
