Peppermint Patty arrived in the world of Peanuts and began calling Charlie Brown “Chuck” on this day in 1966. Happy birthday Peppermint Patty.

BTW, it is not lost on me that most of the people I feature here may not be so well known to younger readers. But the truth is, I scan the lists and don’t recognize most of the younger celebrants. Feel free to message me if you’re a fan of someone I’ve missed.
And not to be thoughtless when it comes to the birthdays of inanimate objects, Happy birthday to the Cadillac (1901). My dad used to always pretend to be concerned about not hurting the feelings of inanimate objects. I think he’d be please that we’ve taken a moment to say happy birthday to a car.
Baseball fans might want to lift a glass for Nolan Ryan because today is the anniversary of his 5,000th strike out.
It’s also Hug Your Boss Day over on our AUGUST calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness. Yikes, and I didn’t even go into work today! I’m gonna raincheck it and ask for hugs tomorrow!
In terms of foods, it’s Peach Day. Get them while they’re still at their best! There’s nothing I love more than a fresh peach from the Farmers’ Market.
And if you have a wobbly, loose tooth, perfect timing! It’s Tooth Fairy Day!
