Ventriloquist Week started yesterday. My kids at school and I tried, but we failed. We were hilariously awful. You do not have to look cool all the time. It’s exhausting to keep up the act that you’re savvy at everything. Here’s a clip of ventriloquist, Nina Conti, that really did make me laugh out loud.
This day in 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to land on the moon and so we celebrate Moon Day. Funny coincidence today we also get a full moon! But 7/20/69 was also Sir Edmund Hilary‘s 50th birthday (1919). Do you think NASA considered that earlier explorer when deciding which day to schedule the first ever moon walk? I kinda hope they did.
And maybe since it’s also Fortune Cookie Day, I’m going to imagine Neil and Buzz shared some freeze dried MooShu Vegetables that evening. Neil’s fortune cookie said,” The secret to success is taking the first step.” Buzz’s was cautionary, “Avoid unnecessary risks. Live to see another day.” And that (not paper, scissors, rock) is how the two of them decided who’d be going down the ladder first the next morning.
Today we say happy birthday to Sandra Oh (1971), Carlos Santana (1947), Natalie Wood (1938) and Josh Holloway (1969). A birthday party with these four would be fun! I’ve actually shared several meals with one of these people. can you guess which one?
We all might be needing a little nap later today, it being Nap Day.
