Listen to Music
Outside Day
Music can change the world,
because it can change people.

Today we send birthday wishes to Amy Winehouse (1983). So sad she died so young. Another loss. Oh how I hate drugs and alcohol. If I could wave a wand and erase from human knowledge the ability to make mind altering substances, I would.
It’s also Eat a Bagel Day and Cream Filled Donut Day. That’s two things shaped like an O. Makes me kind of wish it was also Wheel Day, Liversavers Day, Bundt Cake Day and Hula Hoop Day, too. BTW, just tried hula hooping for the first time in decades and it was so fun! But, here’s something I learned, now that I’m grown up sized I need a bigger hoop.
Over on our September calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness, see a different Bagel Smiley.
Milton Berle‘s first day on TV was this day in 1948 and Chubby Checker‘s The Twist hit’s #1 on the charts on this day in 1960. Seems today’s a good one for creative endeavors. So go out there and get to it!
It’s Deaf Awareness Week. If you’ve got a highschooler wondering which language they should take for the graduation requirement, I’d suggest looking into ASL (American Sign language). So easy to learn. So fun!! My daughter went this route and since she wasn’t yet driving I took the classes too. We had so much fun together and continue to use it as a way of silently communicating (No, we don’t use it during charades although we have been accused). ASL offered at lots of Junior Colleges and with a little paperwork ahead of time my daughter found it was easy to get the high school to accept it.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus as is often the case, just for grins, you get a different Music Smiley in the Smiley-a-Day emailer.
