Neighbor Day
Sometimes a neighbor
whom we have disliked a lifetime
for their arrogance and conceit
lets fall a single commonplace remark
that shows us another side,
another person, really;
a person uncertain, and puzzled,
and in the dark like ourselves.
~ Willa Cather
Did you celebrate Pancake Day this morning? If not, it’s not too late. I love having breakfast for dinner. Consider pancakes the answer, like a little gift, to the daily perplexing question of, “What shall I make for dinner?” You probably already have all the ingredients in your cupboards, so no trip to the store required and you can stay in you comfy clothes! Double score!
Happy birthday Johnny Apple Seed (1774). I’ve got an Apple Smiley for you over on a month full of Smiley Silliness.
The patent for the first record player was filed on this day in 1887. Thanks. Thanks, a lot. I remember my first album. Those of you old enough to have collected albums, probably remember your first, too. My was December’s Child, by the Rolling Stones.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus as is often the case, just for grins, you get a different House Smiley in the Smiley-a-Day emailer.
