You also have a chance for big fun today-well if you have a beard. It’s Shave Your Beard Day. Come on, do it! It can always grow back. And how cool to revisit your old face. Don’t we all know someone who’s had a beard for years? Wouldn’t it be cool to see what they look like without it? Call a bearded friend (or a bearded neighbor?) and see if you can urge them to do it. It’s bound to be fun talking to them about it, even if they don’t go for it.
Is there a rap version of “Happy Birthday”? If there is, I hope somebody sings it to Eminem today (born this day in 1972). And might there be a reggae version for Ziggy Marley (born this day in 1972)? And because I’m such a space nut, I couldn’t let October 17 go by without saying happy birthday to Mae Carol Jemison (1956), who was the first African American woman in space in 1992, shortly before her 37th birthday.
