Cracker Day
I’ve done for the most part
pretty much what I intended –
I ended up doing comedy,
writing and painting.
I’ve had a ball. And as I get older,
I just become an older kid.
~ Jonathan Winters
born this day 1925
A dearly missed comedian who
always cracked me up.
Today is Cracker Day in honor of the founding of one very famous cracker company, Nabisco, back on this day in 1901. Oh and sorry no cracker quote. People evidentially do not wax prophetic or poetic over the cracker.
It is also Origami Day. I always loved origami. Was never particularly good at it, but loved it all the same. Again, one doesn’t have to be an expert to enjoy the activity. All creative pursuit should be done solely for the pleasure of the doing, without regard, to whether the doing is “good enough.”
Over on a month full of Smiley Silliness we celebrate the birthday of Route 66 opened on birthday boy Jonathan Winter‘s 1st birthday (1926).
Today we say happy birthday to Leonardo DiCaprio (1974), Demi Moore (1962), and Kurt Vonnegut (1922). If you’re searching for a way to celebrate, see the two holidays below for a suggestion for tonight’s menu.
Tonight after dinner you have a choice for dessert because it is both Vanilla Cupcake Day and Sundae Day.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
