Be a Friend Day
Friendship is unnecessary,
like philosophy, like art…
It has no value;
rather it is one of those things
that give value to survival.
~ C. S. Lewis
Truck Smiley because
it’s also Trucker Day.
Over on a Month of Smiley Silliness, it’s the start of Remember to Say Thank You Week. It’s also Wear a Plunger on your Head Day. To that I think I’ll say NO thank you! But speaking of saying thank you, if you do it consistently, in front of your children, it will come naturally to them–way more so than if you insist they say it when it hasn’t occurred to them.
Today is also play BINGO Day. I can’t get too worked up about that one–that is one very dull game. Not the slightest bit of brains needed.
Mother Goose first hit the shelves on this day in 1719.
Happy Birthday to Brad Pitt, born this day in 1964. I’ve had a big crush on him from way back when he was in Thelma and Louise. I used to have a life sized cut out of him that I’d gotten from my local video store (remember video stores?!). One day I strapped cardboard Brad into the passenger seat and drove around town with Brad as my sidekick. Gave my friends a good laugh. Anyone else celebrating today? Yep. There’s Christine Aguilera (1980), Steven Spielberg (1946), Keith Richards (1943), Ray Liotta (1954), Betty Grable (1916), and Ozzie Davis (1917).
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
Plus, as is often the case, the Truck Smiley you get in the Smiley-a-Day emailer is different from what you see here.
DID I MISS ANY GOOFY, SILLY, UPBEAT HOLIDAYS??
