Cut Off Your
Deadheads Day
Clarity is the most important thing.
I can compare clarity
to pruning in gardening.
You know, you need to be clear.
If you are not clear,
nothing is going to happen.
~Diane von Furstonberg
Just in case you’re not clear, this is not a mean holiday about distancing yourself from people who follow The Grateful Dead from city to city and show to show. A deadhead is a flower that has withered on the plant. Clip it off and the plant does not spend its ummph growing seeds in that faded bloom, instead all energy goes to creating new flowers.
On this day in 1974, Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth‘s homerun record with his 715th home run.
Happy birthday Frank Lloyd Wright (1867), Keenen Ivory Wayans (1958), and Robert Preston (1918). That last guy is my personal favorite having written Music Man. It was my favorite musical, even before my kid Darren was in it, twice. I’ve seen it so many times, and every time I LOVE it!
It’s also Best Friends Day over on a month of Smiley Silliness. If you have a best friend, be thankful. Let me say it again. If you have a best friend, be thankful. Best friends are not a given. Many people don’t have one, and boy are they great!
TW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
