Be Kind to the
Meter Reader Day
I have a wee parking angel.
It’s on my dashboard
and you wind it up.
The wings flap and it’s supposed
to give you a parking space.
~ Billy Connolly
I don’t need a parking angel. I’m married to the ParKING. The ritual goes like this: No mentioning parking, especially saying that it’ll be easy because he is the parKING, or you’ll jinx it. Then when he gets the perfect space, he turns to me and says, “Who am I?” And I respond, as I have a 1000s times, “You are (dramatic pause), the parKING.” ~ Ruth Kaiser, The Smiley Lady
BTW, the first Parking Meter was introduced in…click to find out!
It’s also Build Something Day over on a calendar of a month full of Smiley Silliness. There you’ll see a Smiley that was featured during my interview on the CBS Evening News.
As I was just checking my notes about today’s other holidays, I read Juggling Spinach. Tsk tsk, a moment of laziness, my neglecting to put in the comma, could have created quite a mess. My notes should have read Juggling, Spinach as part of a list of today’s holiday.
And being the space geek that I am, I couldn’t let the day go by without acknowledging Neil, Buzz and Michael on this anniversary of the 1969 launch of Apollo 11. BTW, that’s space geek, not spacey geek–which, truth be told, also applies.
BTW, the Smileys and holidays on a month full of Smiley Silliness are all different than the ones you see here on the website’s Daily Smiley.
